I tried consoling her at first, but that didn’t work. Then I tried to convince her that she should try to move on with her life, but that didn’t work either. Eventually, I realized that Rachel would never quite move on from her ex boyfriend’s abandonment. That is not to say that she couldn’t live without him, but I knew that she would never be the same again.

Once you’ve decided that you would get your ex boyfriend back, then comes the challenging part, which is actually getting it done. Although I feel for Rachel, repeating the words “I want my ex boyfriend back” didn’t do any good in actually getting him back. The better part of getting your ex boyfriend back will rely on having a solid strategy.

I tried teaching Rachel how to get her ex boyfriend back, but you are only as good of a teacher as your student’s willingness to learn. She was in too much hurry, she was too desperate, and she never had the guts to make the tough decisions that would have made the difference.

So stop saying “I want my ex boyfriend back” and let’s do something about it. To start things off, you have to make yourself scarce. Imagine a friend who happened to be overweight just decides to pack and leave one day. This friend comes back a year later and he or she came back looking fantastic having lost all the extra pounds. Now, imagine a slightly different scenario where this friend never left, but still lost the same extra pounds for a period of a year.

It is quite obvious that seeing a big change after a long absence would definitely make a stronger impression than seeing small incremental changes over a long period of time. Even though both scenarios would have the friend looking fantastic, the effect that the two scenarios would have on you would be very different.

If you keep calling your ex boyfriend or try to linger around places where you know he’ll be, even if you make some changes that you know for a fact might please him, that would have little or no impact on his mindset.

You have to make a big entrance, create a scene, because that’s how you get his attention and make a strong impression on him. There’s absolutely no point in doing anything if you can’t get your ex boyfriend to notice you.

Give your ex boyfriend enough time on his own and eventually he will start to miss you. He will also second guess his decision to dump you and this is all just a normal process of how people deal with breakups. It doesn’t matter that he dumped you, he still needs closure and he’ll find it in the manner that most people do.

Now, you can’t just disappear and reappear, and hope that your ex boyfriend will miraculously want you back. That usually does not happen, although it isn’t unheard of.

To get him to seriously regret his decision to dump you, you’ll first have to make some visual improvements. There are various ways in which you can accomplish this and to give you some pointers, most of us could do with a little less weight, people tend to stick to one boring hair-do for years on, a little change in fashion can even change your attitude, or you can just tidy yourself up a little.

The improvements you make to your appearance will get your ex boyfriend to look your way, but to make him stay with you for good this time, you’ll also want to correct some of the flaws that you know have attributed to the breakup.

Remember, just because your ex boyfriend did not like something about you, it does not mean that it is something to be corrected. This isn’t about you shaping yourself to be the perfect woman for him, that would be offensive and the wrong move on your part. This is about making compromises to make a relationship work, so keep your chin up and respect yourself.

Make yourself scarce and the waiting process begins. The waiting creates a vacuum in your ex boyfriend’s life as you completely cut off contact with him and soon he’ll start to miss you. The improving of yourself both visually and mentally isn’t only for your ex boyfriend though, because this will do wonders for your self-esteem.

There are no guarantees in life, but do all that I’ve told you here, and it is unlikely that you fail to get him back. My friend Rachel couldn’t stop saying “I want my ex boyfriend back”, but she never took the necessary steps to get him back. You don’t have to suffer the same fate as Rachel, make the smart moves and get him madly in love with you again.
