I am in my mid thirties right now and I’ve been involved in 7 long term relationships in my life. I was dumped twice out of those 7 relationships, but I was able to win back an ex on one occasion and I failed to do so in another. I pulled all the wrong moves on my first experience of getting dumped. I was desperate and I tried to win my ex back by calling her every chance that I got. Like a fool, I felt so relieved on the rare occasions that she would answer my calls and I thought she would take me back if I could only convince her that I would do anything she wanted.

I was wrong of course. My constant bickering and begging drove her further and further away until she had completely ignored me. Had I known what to do in such situation, I still would have a good chance of winning her back. But it was hopeless for me because I didn’t know any better.

Now, if you are still keeping regular contact with your ex, then I want you to make one last call and apologize to your ex for hanging on for too long. Thank your ex for being patient with you and let him or her know that you are ready to move on. Keep the call brief and don’t say anything unnecessary.

If your ex is no longer taking your calls, then you might have to write a letter. No e-mails or texts, it needs to be a letter, a message in a physical form. When your ex receives your letter by mail, he or she has a choice to either read it or to throw it in the garbage. People are control freaks by nature and if they have in their hands a piece of information that can reveal something new to them, they’ll choose to read that letter. Keep your message short and simple. You are sorry, thankful, and you are moving on.

Wait for six weeks and do not under any circumstances call your ex. Eat healthy and exercise regularly because you need to look good if you are going to make a big impression on your return. There is a good chance that your ex will call you before the six weeks is up. Do not answer that call unless you are on your last week of waiting. Because there is no way of knowing what your ex might say, what you do here is completely up to you. But just remember this, rewind six weeks and your ex wasn’t even taking your calls. No matter how you look at it, this is a great chance for you.

You are going to make the call yourself if your ex does not call you by the sixth week. Turn your ex into a friend at this point. If you convince him or her that you’ve completely moved on, then it would be pretty petty of your ex to say no to your friendship. Trust me, your ex will say yes to your buddy request.
